Robin Sparkles
Robin Sparkles is a stage name of a fictional character named Robin Scherbatsky created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas for the CBS television series 'How I Met Your Mother', portrayed by Canadian actress Cobie Smulders. She was a Canadian dance pop star in Canada in the 90s (the 80s didn't come to Canada 'til like '93) with her song "Let's Go to the Mall". She often toured malls in Canada singing her hit single. The monotonous, tedious touring gave her mixed feelings about stardom.
She attempted to follow up on the success of "Let's Go To The Mall" with a more artistic exercise in classic balladry, which came in the form of "Sandcastles in the Sand". The song featured fellow teenage popstar Tiffany, and the music video had a notable cameo from 'Growing Pains' star Alan Thicke. "Sandcastles..." was considered a commercial flop and marked the end of Robin Sparkles musical career.
Toward the end of her musical career, Robin attempted to shift from teen pop to grunge, adopting a new stage name, Robin Daggers, and penning a track entitled "P.S. I Love You" (about longtime crush Paul Shaffer) and performing it at the 84th Grey Cup, effectively ending her career in music.
The ex-singer now lives in Manhattan, New York. She was a news anchor for a New York cable news channel, Metro News 1 and hosted her own morning talk show that airs at 4:00 in the morning. By 2030, Robin is a very successful television news anchor, and lives with her dogs in New York. Read more on Last.fm.
